Jasvinder Sanghera, a survivor of forced marriage, is the founder of Karma Nirvana, an award-winning charity supporting victims of honour-based abuse and forced marriages. She is an acclaimed international speaker and expert advisor to courts on child, civil, and criminal proceedings. Jasvinder chairs domestic homicide reviews and played a key role in improving UK police understanding of these issues. Her memoir 'Shame' was a Times Top 10 Bestseller and instrumental in raising awareness. Prime Minister David Cameron credited her work with changing his perspective on forced marriage. Jasvinder's advocacy led to the creation of a specific UK forced marriage criminal offense in 2014.
